INPP Practitioner Training is Now a CPD-Accredited Programme
The full one-year Practitioner Training Programme is officially recognised by the CPD Standards Office, with 183 hours of CPD
We are delighted to announce an important development for INPP UK.
INPP Training UK is now officially recognised as a CPD provider by the CPD Standards Office, and the full INPP Practitioner Training Programme has been awarded 183 hours of Continuing Professional Development.
This recognition represents an important step forward for INPP UK and reflects the professional depth and breadth of our one-year Practitioner Training Programme.
The programme is designed for experienced professionals who want to develop a specialist understanding of neuromotor development, primitive reflexes and their relationship to learning and developmental difficulties. It combines theoretical study with practical clinical training, supervised casework, assessment and ongoing professional reflection.
On successful completion of the programme, trainees progress towards INPP Licentiate status, accredited by INPP International.
183 hours of professional learning
The award of 183 CPD hours reflects the fact that INPP practitioner training is considerably more than a series of teaching days.
The year-long programme requires trainees to engage with the material in a number of different ways, including:
structured theoretical teaching
practical assessment training
supervised clinical learning
independent study and reading
case study work
clinical observation and application
assessment and written examinations
development of clinical reasoning
reflection on professional practice
This combination is central to the INPP approach to professional training.
Learning to work with the INPP Method requires more than learning a set of exercises or becoming familiar with a list of primitive reflexes. Practitioners need to understand the developmental and neurological principles underlying the method and, importantly, learn how to apply that knowledge appropriately within individual assessment and intervention.
What does CPD accreditation mean?
Continuing Professional Development is an important part of professional practice. For many practitioners, demonstrating a commitment to structured, relevant and recognised professional learning is an essential part of maintaining and developing their professional expertise.
Recognition by the CPD Standards Office provides an independent framework through which professional development activities can be formally recognised.
For professionals considering INPP training, this means that the substantial learning undertaken throughout the Practitioner Training Programme can now be recognised as 183 hours of CPD.
It also reflects the breadth of learning involved in completing the programme.
A full year of specialist professional training
The INPP Practitioner Training Programme is not intended to be a short introductory course.
It is a one-year postgraduate professional training programme leading to INPP Licentiate status. Trainees are expected to bring an existing professional qualification and substantial experience to their studies, and the INPP training builds upon that professional foundation.
The current programme consists of four modules covering the history and development of the INPP Method, neurological and reflex development, assessment, motor and perceptual skills, clinical report writing, individualised programme design and practical application, followed by formal examination.
The training combines online and face-to-face learning, with practical components taught in person. This is deliberate.
Clinical competence cannot be developed through theory alone.
Trainees need opportunities to observe, practise, receive feedback, discuss clinical presentations and develop the judgement required to apply a standardised assessment and intervention approach responsibly.
From training to Licentiate
CPD accreditation is an important recognition of the learning involved in the programme, but it is important to distinguish CPD accreditation from INPP Licentiate accreditation.
The CPD Standards Office recognition confirms the professional development value and learning hours associated with the training.
INPP Licentiate status is awarded through INPP International following successful completion of the full Practitioner Training Programme and the requirements associated with Licentiate status.
This distinction is important because the aim of INPP training is not simply to provide a certificate of attendance.
The aim is to develop practitioners who are competent to assess neuromotor development using the INPP framework, interpret assessment findings, design individualised movement programmes and work within the professional standards of the INPP Method.
Why this matters to INPP
INPP has been developing its approach to neuromotor development for more than 50 years, with practitioners now working across an international network spanning more than 20 countries.
Maintaining consistency in professional training is therefore particularly important.
Our aim is to ensure that an INPP Licentiate has undertaken a substantial and structured programme of study and clinical training, wherever they have trained within the international INPP network.
The addition of CPD Standards Office recognition provides another layer of professional recognition for the UK training programme.
It is also part of our continuing commitment to developing INPP training in a way that is rigorous, transparent and relevant to experienced professionals.
An important milestone for future practitioners
For professionals considering whether INPP training is the right next step, the CPD accreditation provides an additional indication of the level of commitment involved.
183 hours of CPD represents a significant investment in professional learning.
It reflects a programme that extends well beyond classroom teaching and encompasses independent study, practical development, clinical application and assessment across an entire academic year.
For those who successfully complete the programme and progress to Licentiate status, it becomes the foundation for continuing professional development within the INPP community.
